photography, and Gabby’s senior photos were definitely one of them.

I have been photographing this beautiful young lady since she was a baby.

Before Gabby was even here, I photographed her parents’ wedding. Then came baby pictures, childhood photos, family sessions, different homes, different stages of life, and so many memories in between. I’ve had the privilege of watching this family grow and change through my camera for years.

And somehow, that little baby is now 17 years old and getting ready to head off to college next year.

How did that happen?!

Senior sessions are always special because they capture such a unique moment in life. You’re standing right between childhood and whatever comes next. There are so many possibilities ahead, but you can still see little pieces of the child you remember in the person standing in front of your camera.

With Gabby, that feeling was especially strong for me.

It was incredible to see the beautiful, confident young woman she has grown into and to have the chance to document another milestone for her family. There is something pretty amazing about realizing that the photographs I took all those years ago are now part of the same story as these senior portraits.

And this session came with one more first for me:

Gabby is officially my first client whom I photographed as a baby who is now old enough to DRIVE ME around for her photos. 😂

That one definitely made me feel the passage of time!

But more than anything, it reminded me why I love what I do.

Photography isn't only about creating a beautiful picture for today. It's about building a visual history of a family — babies becoming toddlers, kids becoming teenagers, families changing and growing, and eventually watching those same children get ready to head out into the world on their own.

Gabby, it has been such a privilege to watch you grow up through my lens. I can't wait to see where life takes you next.
