If you had told me twenty years ago that I'd still wake up excited to pick up my camera, I probably would have smiled and said, "Of course." Photography has never been just a job to me. It has always been about people—their stories, their relationships, and the moments they'll treasure long after the day is over.
My journey began at Colby-Sawyer College in beautiful New London, New Hampshire, where I studied photography and discovered just how powerful an image could be. After college, I had the incredible opportunity to study under acclaimed photographer Cary Hazelgrove on Nantucket, where I refined both my technical skills and my appreciation for authentic storytelling.
Like many photographers, I dreamed big. I packed my bags and moved across the country to San Diego with every intention of building my career there. Life, however, had different plans. When my grandmother needed help, I came home to Rhode Island to be with my family. Looking back, I wouldn't change that decision for anything.
Family has always come first.
That simple truth has shaped not only my life but also the way I photograph. It has taught me that time is our most valuable gift and that photographs become more meaningful with every passing year. They're never just pictures. They're the smiles you'll miss someday, the way your children reached for your hand, the laugh your grandparents shared, and the tiny moments that quietly become your favorite memories.
Returning to Rhode Island was the beginning of the career I have today. Over the last two decades, I've had the privilege of photographing thousands of incredible people. I've watched babies become high school seniors. I've photographed engagements, weddings, newborns, birthdays, extended families, business owners, authors, and professionals. I've celebrated promotions, retirements, anniversaries, and countless milestones alongside the families who continue to invite me back year after year.
Many of my clients have grown up with me.
Some first visited my studio as nervous, excited parents-to-be. Then I photographed their newborn. Before I knew it, we were celebrating first birthdays, family portraits, kindergarten smiles, middle school graduations, and now senior portraits. There is no greater compliment than having families trust me to document so many chapters of their lives.
Throughout my career, my work has been featured in People Magazine, Grace Ormonde Wedding Style, The Knot, and numerous other publications, blogs, and websites. Those recognitions have been incredibly rewarding, but they aren't what motivate me.
My biggest dream is still ahead of me.
Someday, I'd love to see one of my photographs published in National Geographic. I don't know exactly where that journey will lead, but I believe it's important to keep chasing big dreams while appreciating the everyday moments that make life meaningful.
Along the way, I've worn a few different hats that have shaped who I am today. I spent time as a head teacher at the YMCA, where I learned that patience, encouragement, and a little bit of silliness can go a long way—especially with children. I've worked in restaurants, where multitasking became second nature, and in a real estate office, which sparked an appreciation for architecture, beautiful homes, and thoughtfully designed spaces.
For more than fifteen years, though, I've been proudly self-employed. Building a business has taught me resilience, creativity, and the importance of treating every client the way I'd want my own family to be treated—with honesty, kindness, and genuine care.
Today, my greatest inspiration comes from two very special people.
My daughter, Eden, is wonderfully creative. She loves books, art, music, and has a confidence that amazes me every single day. She isn't afraid to be exactly who she is, and I admire that more than I can put into words.
My son, Harrison, is pure joy. He keeps life full of laughter, energy, and adventure. Whether he's dancing around the house, playing sports, or making us laugh with his endless imagination, he reminds me every day to slow down and enjoy the little moments that become life's biggest memories.
Being their mom has completely transformed the way I photograph families. I understand how quickly childhood changes because I see it happening right in front of me. One day you're carrying them on your hip, and before you know it they're running off with friends, reading chapter books, playing sports, and becoming wonderfully independent little people.
Family doesn't stop with my children. Today, my father lives with us, and it's a privilege to help care for him as he gets older. Sharing a home with three generations has given me an even greater appreciation for how precious our time together really is. I see every day how quickly children grow, how parents become grandparents, and how those relationships become the heart of a family's story. It's one of the reasons I have such a special place in my heart for extended family sessions. There is something incredibly meaningful about bringing grandparents, parents, children, and grandchildren together in one photograph. Those images often become family heirlooms—treasured not just for how everyone looked, but because they capture an entire generation together in a moment that can never be recreated. Having experienced both the joys and the responsibilities of caring for the generations before and after me, I understand just how priceless those photographs become with time.
That perspective is why I love photographing families of every size and every season of life. Whether you're celebrating your first baby, updating portraits with energetic toddlers, gathering siblings from across the country, or convincing Grandma that she "doesn't need to be in the picture" (she absolutely does!), I know these moments matter. Years from now, these photographs won't just remind you what everyone looked like—they'll remind you what it felt like to be together.
Whether I'm photographing a surprise proposal, a newborn, grandparents surrounded by grandchildren, a high school senior ready for the next adventure, or four generations gathered together for the first time in years, my goal is always the same: to create photographs that feel honest, joyful, and timeless.
I want your gallery to tell your story—not just what everyone looked like, but who they were.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. I hope we'll have the chance to create something meaningful together. Long after the decorations have been packed away, the children have grown, and the years have passed, I hope the photographs we create together become part of your family's history—images that make future generations smile, laugh, and remember exactly what it felt like to love one another.
Some of my favorite client relationships aren't measured by the number of photographs we've taken—they're measured by the years we've shared together.
For the past thirteen years, I've had the privilege of photographing the Klimeck family during their summer vacations. Year after year, they return to their beautiful summer home in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, where we capture anther chapter of their family's story before heading to one of their favorite places in the world!
This Beach isn't just another beautiful backdrop. It's a place woven into their family's history. Mom spent her summers there growing up, and now she's creating those same cherished memories with her own children. Watching those traditions continue from one generation to the next is something truly special, and it's an honor to preserve those moments through photographs.
Looking back over thirteen years is almost surreal. I can hardly believe the oldest two—twins who I remember photographing as children—are heading off to college this fall. It feels like just yesterday they were running barefoot across the beach, and now they're beginning an entirely new chapter of their lives. It is such a beautiful reminder of just how quickly childhood passes and why these photographs become more meaningful with each passing year.
Being invited back year after year is one of the greatest compliments I can receive as a photographer. It means I'm not just documenting a single afternoon—I'm helping preserve a family's story as it unfolds.
Thank you, Klimek family, for trusting me to be a small part of your summers for the past thirteen years. I can't wait to see what the next chapter brings.

Amanda - 5 stars on Google - Caitlin has been photographing my children for 13 years. I still remember the first session when my oldest was a newborn. Caitlin is extremely patient, kind, and amazing with kids of all ages. From amazing newborn photos to capturing my 3 kids through the years, Caitlin has provided us with amazing photos that will last a lifetime. Over the years I've been to her studio, she has done newborn photos at my house, and she has met us at multiple off site locations- whatever works for us at the time. I look forward to her capturing more photos of my kids in the coming years.
Kristen - 5 Stars on The Knot - Caitlin is simply the best! Don't waste your time looking at another photographer. Book Caitlin and book her early!
I had been following Caitlin's photos on facebook for several years after she did a friend's wedding and I knew right away when I got engaged that I wanted Caitlin for our wedding. Lucky for us, our wedding date was one of the few she had still open.
Our engagement shoot was included in our package and Caitlin drove up to Boston to do our photos, which all came out incredible! We had a hard time deciding on one for our Save the Date.
Caitlin photographed our wedding last weekend and she already got all of our 1000+ pics posted on her online gallery. Amazing! I've had some friends wait MONTHS to see their wedding pictures.
Caitlin captured so many wonderful pictures and it really seems like she is able to be in multiple places at the same time. Several guests even commented excitedly that she was "everywhere." She also handled our venue coordinators with grace and professionalism (which I'm sure was difficult at times).
I cannot thank Caitlin enough for providing us with beautiful pictures that will last a lifetime and we can look back on them to remember and relive the best day of our lives.
Anonymous - 5 stars on The Knot - Caitlin was the photographer on my wedding day and I couldn't be happier with the photos she took :) What I was most impressed with was Caitlin's ability to capture the candid special moments between my husband and I throughout the celebration. The photos came out just as fantastic as the staged photos but truly captured an intimate moment. Caitlin made us feel at ease throughout the whole process and was exceptional in her direction and management of the photo shoots. She worked with what we wanted while contributing with a professional point of view. I look forward to hiring Caitlin again for future events as my family grows :) She is truly a talented artist with a special eye for capturing beautiful moments reflected in her photos.
Anonymous - 5 Starts on The Knot - We found Caitlin by chance on Craigslist back in 2007, she was sweet and creative and has come a long way since then! She photographed our engagement photos and wedding beautifully! She also photographed our first born as well as did maternity photos in 2012 and other family photos for my extended family. I highly recommend her, she knows how to capture a moment in the most beautiful way and has such a creative outlook. I promise you wont be disappointed!
Lindsay C - 5 stars on The Knot - I found Caitlin on the Knot when looking for photographers. We couldn't be happier with our decision. Most importantly, the quality of the photographs was amazing. She guided us through the photos on both our engagement shoot and the wedding day to capture amazing memories. She also did a suburb job catching all the wonderful moments of the day through candid shots of our guest and the special details that make weddings so special.
Not only is her photography amazing, she is fun and professional. She makes an effort to get to know you as a couple, she makes you feel at ease, and she is super speedy about getting the photos back. The other really great thing about Caitlin is her dedication to your day. When I worked with her the whole day was mine. She actually photographed us from 11 AM-10:30 PM. she took a short break for dinner (though I would never have known) and was at it all night long. I cannot thank her enough for her dedication to our day. I would recommend her to anyone planning a wedding or just a photo shoot. Congrats to all you brides to be, and I hope that you use Caitlin and are as happy as we are!
Andrea - 5 stars on The Knot - Caitlin Wood is awesome. You will not regret choosing her as your photographer for any occasion!
Caitlin is super talented and amazing at what she does; a true artist! Taking an engagement photo shoot can be really awkward, but Caitlin made my Fiancé (at the time) and I feel extremely comfortable and relaxed. The pictures came out AMAZING!
Caitlin is extremely professional, responsive, creative, and personable. She really goes the extra mile for you. The day of my wedding she was so helpful in what was a hectic environment. She fixed my hair when it was out of place and rallied up my family for photos, which is essentially like herding cats. One particular moment that really sticks out for my husband and I was when Caitlin got on the ground, almost under a car and took a picture of us and our reflection in dirty puddle of water. I was extremely eager to see how this particular picture came out. Let me tell you, it’s one of my favorite pictures - ever!
Don’t waste your time looking at a million photographers; Caitlin is the best!
Jennie - 5 stars on The Knot - Caitlin is GENUINE. On our wedding day, it felt natural to have her there, like a good friend standing by your side and having fun; not like your in a photo shoot all day. She captures all the moments you want (and the ones you don't realize you want) but are great ideas and works of art!
I was very impressed with Caitlin's professionalism and her down to earth personality. She is very dedicated to her work, and wants to make your photos the best they can be! I loved that she was easy to talk to, share ideas, and whenever we had a wedding planning question she was quick to respond with some great advice! BEST vendor decision we made and WORTH EVERY PENNY! Thank you CAITLIN, we look forward to using you again in the future, even though we no longer live nearby we will travel to have her expertise!
Anonymous - 5 stars on The Knot - Caitlin was someone we stumbled upon walking down a popular street in downtown Newport, RI. It was the pictures in her windows that captivated both our imaginations and ultimately our hearts.
We went home and looked her up, her website and social media pages are second to none, upon contacting her and straight through to the day of the wedding she was both hands on and inclusive. She contacted us many times to assure both us, and herself, that she was prepared to make the most special of days for my wife and I truly memorable.
Ultimately, the day of the wedding flies by, I remember key points throughout, of course some more important than others, but Caitlin and her interaction with both my new bride and I, our families and all our friends were amazing!
Caitlin pays attention to you, whatever you want she does. The one thing I would have to say that really sets her apart from other photographers is that she is not just there to take pictures. She spent the whole wedding day at the location helping out in so many ways to ensure everything went smooth.
After the special day, her capabilities continued to shine. We received our photos in a beautiful setting, I wont be specific so as not to give away any secrets, but then when we saw all the photos from the wedding it blew us away.
Ultimately, when making a decision on who to choose for your wedding photography look no further than Caitlin. I know she said prior she is willing to travel both near and far so wherever you may be think about her and maybe, just maybe, if you are lucky and she has your day free she too can be your photographer!!
Anonymous - 5 stars on The Knot - One of the many important decisions my wife gave me was to select the photographer for our wedding day. I too wanted to make sure that we had someone who understood our needs and the dynamics of our wedding.
Our wedding took place in Providence, RI on September 1st 2013. My wife and I are both Filipino American with large families. We had nearly 300 people so we needed someone who could manage the craziness of our family. Caitlin rose to the occasion and we knew she was the right one for the job from the moment we saw her website and talked to her on the phone.
First, she is authentic. She treated us with respect and such professionalism. She listened to our needs, asked clarifying questions, and was realistic with us. She had recommendations which we appreciated. In addition, we live in Maryland and she is in Rhode Island but had a good sense of different spots we could take our engagement and wedding photos.
Second, she is very creative. Her shots are very intentional and she has an eye for sizing up the scene and finding what would look nice in that particular shot. In addition, she allowed us to be creative. I was a little nervous about asking her for a "haduken" and a "vader" picture and when I explained it her, she made it happen. I was afraid that she would think of me as an immature little boy, but she appreciated it I think :) If anything, I got many "likes" on Facebook from those pictures.
Third, she is hard working. I mean to the point where she will lay on the ground to get a huddle shot of my groomsmen, bridesmaids, and children. She stayed at our reception longer than I thought, which was a testimony of her dedication. On top of that, her turnaround time to see proofs is amazing. I'm a pretty impatient person and she exceeded my expectations with no more than 7 business days seeing proofs. I have friends who got married in June and I have yet to see their pictures. She's quick, but not sloppy in the least bit. Bonus, she gives you the digital images. They are high res photos and not watermarked. Definitely a big plus!
Overall, she was by far the best vendor we had and we honestly liked all of our vendors. Caitlin captured every moment on our special day (especially our EPIC surprise flash mob) and we did give her a big task to capture every moment. I would highly recommend her for any photography job and she will not disappoint.
Anonymous - 5 star on The Knot - My name is Charlene Storti, my husband and myself own a venue called The Quonset 'O' Club. We met Caitlin in 2010 when she photographed our son's wedding. We were both so impressed with her professionalism and the manner of which she captured everything without even knowing she was there.
Our daughter just got married in July 2013 and we chose Caitlin to photograph her wedding. There are so many vendors that we could have chosen since we deal with photographers on a regular basis. Not only was Caitlin there hours before the wedding began, she was there hours after. It is SO obvious how much Caitlin loves her job, but also how much heart she puts into it.
If I am need of a photographer in the future, there would only be ONE choice, Caitlin Wood, Phtography by Caitlin!
From the Clients:
"Dear Caitlin,
I wish you could hear all of the incredible comments as I show my friends and family our wedding album! Everyone has complimented my photographer on such a beautiful and creative album. I feel so blessed that you were able to photograph our wedding and I can assure you that you will join my family and I as we celebrate our special moments together. You are a truly gifted artist. Thank you for creating the perfect momento for our magical and blessed day.
Fondly,
Stephanie & Michael"
"I just wanted to thank you again for the engagement photo shoot. Kevin and I both had a surprisingly good time doing it! You are very creative and enthusiastic! We're so glad we chose you for our wedding. We can't wait to see the pictures!"
To Whom It May Concern,
I have worked with Caitlin extensively now, from engagement photos, to a boudoir shoot, up to the incredible work she did at our August wedding. Caitlin always shows up promptly, prepared to work. My husband and I are both designers, and as such placed incredible value on the photos of our day. With this in mind, the only photographer who fulfilled our expectations, with her incredible talent and excellent value was Caitlin. Her organization and experience allowed her to capture many more photos than most within the single hour between our ceremony and reception. She was able to organize large groups with ease, making them feel comfortable and capturing everyone at their best (a very difficult feat when there are over a dozen people involved!) By the time our dinner was finished, she already had a slide show of images playing, which our guests greatly enjoyed throughout the evening - and kept working diligently during the reception. Looking through the multitude of photos, I was so glad that I had Caitlin to capture all the subtle, beautiful moments of our day that I was too busy and overwhelmed with guests to even notice myself. She immortalized one of the most important days of my husband and my life poetically. I encourage you to do yourself a great service and use Caitlin for your special event.
Sincerely,
Virginia (and Tim)
Caitlin,
Thank you so much for doing our engagement pictures. I received the DVD on Friday and they are beautiful! I Love them! It was so much fun. I can't wait till next April to see the wedding pictures. I know they will be just as fabulous.

We have received the DVD and we LOVE the pictures!
You did a fantastic job capturing our wedding on film!
Your work has already gotten many compliments from our friends and family :)
We have decided that we would like to go ahead with purchasing some wedding albums.

"I still cannot thank you enough for the incredibly beautiful pictures you took at our wedding. Everyone was beyond impressed. Also thanks for doing the 'trash the dress' photos. It was an experience I will never forget. You are extremely skilled at what you do and have a way of making the bride feel comfortable and beautiful as you snap away. You were the perfect photographer for me on my wedding day." -Married 8-08-08
